Living history and herstory took center stage at New York City's storied Gotham Hall for a major celebration of LGBT rights and service Monday night. Edith Windsor, the Jewish lesbian activist whose court battle successfully overturned the Defense of Marriage Act in 2013 presented Jim Obergefell with the LGBT Pioneer Award for his court victory earlier this year that made marriage equality the law of the land.
